Accelerated Reader Program
Accelerated Reader is a tool for monitoring independent reading practice and is used by students in grades three through eight.
This computerized program is used to help students track their reading progress throughout the year. Beginning in grade three, students are tested to determine their reading levels and encouraged to check out books that are in their reading range. Seventy-five percent of the books in the library are color coded with level stickers. Students read the book and then take the accompanying test to earn points throughout the year. New AR books of all levels are constantly being added to the collection.
Each marking period, student earn points that are counted as a reading test grade.
Students who earn 100 points or more by the end of May will be invited to our annual Accelerated Reader Luncheon celebrating their succcess.
